NLP – Conditioning your Mind for Success

“Never underestimate the power and influence of the human spirit. We are all the same in this notion: The potential for greatness lives within each one of us.”

…….Wilma Rudolph

The world is filled with opportunities, but many of us are still struggling, striving to make ends meet or hoping to land something good. In the process we are always racing against time and forget to look where we should have in the first place – within us!

Human Beings have so much hidden potential within them. Research say, many of us use only a small fraction (about 2-3%) of this infinite resource throughout our lives. Some of us have uncovered such astonishing discoveries and inventions, but a majority, still have a long way to go. Sometimes we are not able to achieve our goals even till we reach old age, which leaves us feeling unfulfilled and disillusioned.

There are so many case studies and examples where people have achieved what they have set out to do. Many of them have done this with a profound knowledge about the power within they possess and of course unrelenting hard work. They live in a world where whatever they think, they create; and whatever they desire, they achieve. Obstacles are not part of their agenda. For them it is a world filled with opportunities for success. Hence such people live a full life. They enjoy good health, great wealth, prosperity and successes. They are achievers. They are powerful in all areas of their lives, be it physical, emotional, financial or spiritual.

Conditioning your mind for this kind of success using NLP (Neuro
Linguistic Programming).

Sounds too good to be true, doesn’t it. But the fact is, IT IS TRUE! The mind of a Human Being is so powerful that it can achieve anything one wants in life, with the right direction and relentless doing.

So how can NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) help? To know this we have to first know our minds a little more.

Our superior mind is divided into two parts, the objective mind or the conscious mind and the subjective mind or the sub-conscious mind. Sub-conscious mind occupies 90% of your mind while the conscious one occupies only 10%. Each of these minds have an agenda of their own and play their roles well independently, and together when need arises.

The objective mind is external which in this context means unbiased and projects balanced facts about something and is not influenced by past experiences, prejudices, perceptions, desires or knowledge of the person or situation. The information given by the objective mind is entirely based on facts, is observable, quantifiable and provable, all which proves helpful in rational decision making.

On the other hand, the subjective mind is dominated by the personal feelings, opinion and preferences of the person. The outcome generated by the subjective mind need not always be the complete truth, but is more often a self-interpretation of truth or reality, from the person’s angle. Such information or decisions are often biased and influenced by surroundings, assumptions and past experiences. The objective mind is quantifiable. It does the thinking. The doing is done by the subjective mind. The subjective mind is amenable to suggestions. Hence it is also amenable to suggestions from the objective mind. Now you see where I am getting to. If the objective mind gives the suggestion that ‘I am successful’ to the subjective mind, the subjective mind internalizes it, accepts the suggestion and acts on it. It starts believing it and fulfills the belief.

Your mindset is a strong factor in achieving any type of success. One can create the right mindset using NLP tools from a certified NLP training to create the kind of success one wants. All it takes is put to action, the learning from your NLP training to achieve what you desire.

You must have heard about S-M-A-R-T goals. Set SMART goals for yourself, condition your mind to achieve it and see the results. Something about SMART goals to get you started.

S- Specific; M- Measurable; A- Achieved; R- Reasonable; T- Time

Specific – If you set a goal, be very specific about what your goal is.

Measurable – Goals have to be measurable. What can be measured can be achieved.

Achievable – State your goal in the present or past tense as if you have already achieved it.

Reasonable – You cannot ask for the moon and find it in your drawing room. Your goal should be reasonable enough that you can attain it. You can think big but reasonable. Stretch yourself.

Time – Deadline. Have one. Have a specific date on when your goal will
be achieved.

One more tool in the process of conditioning one’s mind is Visualization – Visualize your goal putting your emotions into it. Close your eyes and visualize how you feel after achieving the goal, what you would do, how you would celebrate, how it will affect your life and so on.

Visualize you goal often. The more you visualize the more you will work harder to achieve it. Then bring to your mind that you will do whatever it takes to achieve it. Work hard and with such a passion that your goal becomes an achievement soon. Practice these techniques and you will find that when the desire is there, your subconscious mind will help you get it!

Take control of your lives. Possess the willpower, self-discipline and emotional intelligence to design a life you will be proud of.
